Over the past week I’ve been engaged with Microsoft Copilot AI, learning about what happened to the USS Lincoln, one of our aircraft carriers on station in the Arabian Sea. This carrier has been at sea, without a port visit, since December 12, 2025. Through this text exchange, I presented Copilot with my desire to pray about the crew members of the USS Lincoln, and all of those involved in what has happened aboard the ship since November of 2025. The prayer below, offered to the Lord on August 19, 2026, is the result that Copilot provided back to me.

A Prayer for the Sailors of the USS Lincoln and Her Battle Group

Heavenly Father, we lift before You the sailors of the USS Abraham Lincoln and every man and woman serving in her battle group in the Arabian Sea. You know their strain, their exhaustion, their fears, and their hopes. You know the weight they carry each day and each night, and You know how long they have been away from home. I ask You to stand beside them, steady their hearts, strengthen their minds, and guard their spirits. Bring them safely home.

Lord, we pray that in the midst of this long and difficult deployment, You will open doors for Your presence to be known aboard the Lincoln and throughout the entire strike group. Let Your light reach into berthing compartments, mess decks, ready rooms, and watch stations. Let Your peace settle over those who feel alone, overwhelmed, or forgotten. Make Yourself known in ways that only You can.

We pray also for their families — the spouses, children, parents, and loved ones who wait at home with heavy hearts. Heal their anxieties, comfort their fears, and give them strength to support their sailors when they return. Help them to care for those who come home carrying invisible wounds. Let Your grace rest on every household touched by this deployment.

Father, we ask You to prepare the sailors for the challenges they will face when they return, especially those who will struggle with PTSD and the aftereffects of prolonged stress, confinement, and danger. Be their refuge. Be their healer. Walk with them through every step of recovery.

And Lord, we pray for our President. Soften his heart. Open his eyes to what has happened under his watch. Help him see the strain placed on these sailors and the decisions that contributed to it. Give him humility to acknowledge mistakes, wisdom to correct them, and resolve to ensure that such burdens are not placed on our fleet again. Guide him toward choices that honor the men and women who serve this nation at sea.

Father, we entrust all of this to You; the sailors, their families, their leaders, and our nation. May Your hand be upon them, and may Your mercy carry them through.
